I seem to have developed asthma over this winter. I am allergic to pollen. Will I get much worse this spring?

I had an allergy test for the first time this year and found out I am allergic to pollen from trees and weeds. Over this winter I've developed some sort of asthma-like condition...and in winter there is no pollen (I live in Maine). Since I'm already having asthma-like symptoms right now when there is no pollen...what's going to happen when the trees start pollenating? Am I going to have to live in a bubble or something? Also, pollen is the ONLY thing I'm allergic to...so I don't understand why I have asthma in the first place?

Talk to an asthma specialist first. After some evaluating, he will tell you what to do. But I guarantee you that you won't have to live in a bubble for the rest of your life. If your doctor puts you on any medications, just make sure to take them as often as you are supposed to and your symptoms should stay under control. Don't worry, be happy.
Reply:yes, it will get worse, and maybe not . i have never smoked in my life, and i have broncithis asthma and i can't stand the smell of smoke or perfumes and sprays like hair sprays or cleaning chemicals or anything that is strong, i get sick . even flowers ,pollens and pets . it's terrible . i'm on medication for life .
Reply:It could indeed get worse this spring. Have you started taking medicine? Have you started getting desensitiation shots? Both have helped me. I am highly allergic to ragweed, and somewhat to trees and grasses. I take clarinex and get three shots a week. Life is much better. My eyes used to glue shut at night.
Reply:Asthma is a chronic (long duration) inflammatory disease of the smaller airways of the lungs. Many elements of the immune system are activated in an asthma attack.

Usually Asthma occur in childhood, and after 40.

Reply:It could just be seasonal allergies in the winter. Having lived in the east coast half my life, my mother was exposed to springtime allegies, but now we live in California and all her allergies are gone. There is medication (Clarin) for allergies.

Adios!
Reply:Allergies and asthma are autoimmune disorders. Try to increase you immune IQ by taking an immune booster at the same time immune regulator. have you heard about 4life transfer factor. It is available in cap. form and 1 cap. a day can prevent your symptoms. It will also prevent asthma complications like bronchitis and COPD in the future.

Reply:i've had asthma since...the summer when i was a first grader. it sucks too, since i can run faster than anyone in my grade, including the boys, it's just that i can't run a long distance without getting my asthma. it also sucks for physical ed. rite now i just turned 13, and last trimester i was running ten laps every wed. in twenty minutes. i got an A. this trimester my asthma got way worse, and now i can't even run a whole lap without getting my asthma. and it's funny, but i never wondered why, i just new it was because of the weather. Sorry, this probably really doesn't help...it's just you made me think about it...
