Dog Allergies to Pollen...?

I believe my dog may have pollen allergies. She is 6 yrs old. She's never shown symptoms before, but we haven't exposed her to pollen as much as we havethis year. We've been doing lots of yard work and she's been out there with us. She's sneezing and breathing funny when we bring her in. Would Benydril work for her?

Dog Allergies to Pollen...?
My vet recommended Benydril liquid, the kind for children not adults. He recommended one teaspoon daily. The dose will depend on the size of your dog though and my dog weighs about 75 lbs.
Reply:Dogs can and do get pollen allergies. I have one. Benadryl can be used on dogs but check with your vet first to get the proper dosage for his weight - we do use it on our dog when his allergies are mild. Allergies get worse as they older which is why you may be seeing them for the first time now.

There are other treatments - short-term steroids, usually prednisone can settle things down, and as can frequent baths to get pollens out of their coat.
Reply:i had a dog that had to go to the vet. b/c he was stung be a bee and had a reaction. they gave him benydrill, however you should call the vet. for dosing directions. :)
Reply:I have heard of dogs being on allergy meds. I would ask a vet.
Reply:Pollen allergies are common in dogs that age. I would take her to the vet to see if they can treat it, Benylril is only for humans, and it may kill her. The vet will have the best cure.
