Whats the best way to get rid of mucus in the throat?

I am a singer with terrible allergies! The thing that gets the worse with the pollen increasing is the post nasal drip, and all the mucus in my throat! I would like to know if there are any good ways to get rid if that mucus besides taking my allergy pill!

Whats the best way to get rid of mucus in the throat?
Try several things! It is best to try to approach this problem from several directions.I have found the herb, stinging nettles to be very helpful in reducing the post nasal drip. The mistake many people make is in not using enough and not preparing it properly. I suggest buying the loose herb and making a strong infusion of it in a quart jar. Fill the jar one quarter the way up with the loose herb and add boiling water to the top. Seal and let it steep overnight. You can prepare this every night for the next day.You can strain it off in the morning and drink throughout the day. This really works! Another helpful thing to do that will dissolve mucus is to gargle with Bragg's pure apple cider vinegar whenever your throat feels mucus-y! Both of these remedies are tried and true and are sure to help if used regularly.
Reply:Overall better nutrition is the base on which you would begin to change that condition.

Foods that trigger allergic reactions should obviously be avoided until the condition is changed. An important ingredient would be daily yogurt because it takes care of the area where most allergic reactions begin: the stomach and intestines. Re-establishing the correct balance of important bacteria will go a long way to bring back good health. Daily supplements of vitamin C taken will help fight the battle and can also be good with alleviating over production of mucus. Eucalyptus oil (a few drops) in boiling water and a towel over yr head for inhalation will help clear the breathing passages....as will Vapour Rub.

I also put a few drops on the corner of my pillow because it clears the airways and promotes a better sleep.

Another remedy might be some lemon drops in warm water, sipped.
Reply:daytime decongestant.
Reply:HOT coffee!!!!!! Black
Reply:I have the same problem. Carbonated soda seems to really cut through the mucus for me. I don't know if this is something singers may not want to use.

There is also a nose spray that is just saline (salt and water). This really will clear the pollen out of your sinuses and may also cut down on the amount of mucus your body is producing.
Reply:Don't suppress your coughs. Spit it out. You could swallow it and your digestive fluids will take care of it, but I think that's even more gross than spitting.
Reply:if you can train yourself to do regular coughing as an exercise, that can help get the mucus out. stop smoking if you do. avoid cold drinks that irritate the throat.use herbal drinks that soothe the throat.
Reply:get some nasinex..and/or astelin. Nose sprays....keep an eye on your sinuses and make sure they don't turn into an sinus infection...but allergy meds and nose spray...should do the trick...drink plenty of hot tea and spicy food....will help too..
Reply:Try gargling salt water, this will loosen up what is near surface. Sudafed will help dry up your nose, which in turn may eliminate some mucus from going down.

Avoid dairy products before singing. These will only coat your throat even more.

Reply:Mucinex its over the counter..its a blue pill it breaks up all the mucus you may have..it works good!! you can get it at likr rite aid, walmart, walgreens sum where like that ...good luck!!!!
Reply:have you tried mucinex?
Reply:gargle, gargle, gargle
Reply:lemon tea with a bit of honey in it =good luck
Reply:get a breather, put in some Vick's vapor and some mint leaves in it and inhale the vapor.

Also, gargle some warm water and salt.

Also, regularly eat a salad made with tomatoes, cucumber, onion add to it little bit of Olive Oil, some salt, fresh lemon AND BALSAMIC VINEGAR. This acid will wash away your throat.
Reply:cough
Reply:That was happening to me because of allergies too and I started gargling with salt water. It's kinda gross, but it did help a lot.
