What is the best remedy for a sore throat?

I am allergic to pollen and am taking something that helps that. However I still have a terrible soar throat! I am on a small island where the only store is WAY expensive for cough drops and the like...and well everything!!.. Is a salt water gargle helpful?

Any suggestions on home remedies would be greatly appreciated!

Salt water gargle works pretty darn good in my opinion!! I think it works better than drops or sprays because the salt water reduces the inflammation in the throat instead of just masking it.
Reply:salt water or dissolved paracetamol will help
Reply:Lemon and honey are great.

Hot teal with both also works

Gargle with Sage and Thyme tea.

Slippery elm, rosehip, fennel and wild cherry bark.
Reply:-Rest your voice.

-Drink at least 8 glasses of fluids a day. Warm drinks with honey and lemon are particularly soothing.

-Gargle with a salt solution. Dissolve 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a glass of water, gargle for 20-30 seconds and spit it out.
