What can we allergy sufferers do to alleviate our symptoms this time of year?

My allergies are quite severe. I am highly allergic to pollen. Since it's the beginning of spring, the flowers are all pollenating like madness. Right now, I am coughing, have a runny nose, itchy face, eyes, hair, etc. It is horrible!

What can I do to help lessen the severity of these symptoms?

Thank you.

Please go get a netti pot... The brand I use is called sinu-cleanse you get get it at rite aid, walgreens etc. It has changed my life as far as allergies go. That and zyrtec and I am good. Mucinex will also help if you get severe congestion but seriously get the netti pot use it for 2 weeks you will see a HUGE difference
Reply:there's claritin 24hours non drowsy.

i don't know if there's still allegra there. i used that one when i was in the US in 2002, was prescribed to me by a doc.
Reply:Avoid exposure to allergens, as much as possible. But you could take and antihistamine on a daily basis to prevent symptoms(runny nose, itching, etc.) Try Claritin or Zyrtec. They are both taken once a day and are non-drowsy. If your symptoms are still not resolved, you could talk to your doctor about prescribing a nasal spray(flonase, nasonex, nasacort aq).
