What can you give a cat for excessive sneezing?

He is 8 years old and has been sick only once in his life. We live in East Texas where the pollen and everything else is horrible. We are all suffering from allergies. Do you think he has allergies too?

What can you give a cat for excessive sneezing?
Upper respitory has been bad for us here int he midwest. Be sure to watch for yellow or green snot. Hope it gets over it without antibiotics.
Reply:You can give your cat Chlor- Trimeton (or the generic) according to his weight.

The dosage is 25 mg/ lb. body weight/ per 6 hr.

For example , my cat is 8 pounds and I give him 2mg--1/2 of the standard 2mg tablet.

I do think it is allergies, and the chlor-trimeton should really help that. It might make him a little sleepy, though.

It's always a good idea to check with your vet.

Good luck!
Reply:HE might have allergies or he might have an infection. I would have him checked at the vet. There is a boarding disease you catch from other cats and a vaccination called Bordetello will immunize against it for a year.
Reply:rub a little vicks on the end of his nose.

it might clear him up.

:]
Reply:Call your vet he probably has an upper respiratory infection and needs antibiotics. This is the time of year it seems that all of my cats get it. They never go outside, so I do not understand how they get sick, but they do.
Reply:sounds like your kittie has allergys too I have cats that have then I'm In NC and living on a farm and they come in sneezing too we picked up a couple of them air cleaning machines at wal mart cheeper there and it's gotten better and try to keep the house dusted the vet sells allergy pills for your cat but by july the pollen will settle down
