Why are some pollen grains such complex shapes?

A pollen grain has an inner layer called intine and an external layer with projections called exine. The pollen tube emerges from the intine and enters the female sex organ of the flower. This is the main reason for such a complex structure of the pollen.

Why are some pollen grains such complex shapes?
so that they don't get stuck in the intestines of a bird - they can be designed so that they cause a slight irritation to the lining of the intestine and cause a mild spasm - which does not hurt the bird and frees the pollen grain to be secreted in the feces
Reply:Ask natural selection.............really they are wonderful sometimes:)
Reply:so they have a better catching to things like bees butts and pastures new for pollenation sake......sorry just a guess
Reply:God made them like that so that everyone could marvel at them
