Name three methods of pollen dissemination.Which do you consider as the most primitive? Why?

Insects, wind, water, mammals, birds

I would consider wind pollination the most primitive because it was the first form of pollen dissemination to evolve in gymnosperms (These groups of plants do not produce flowers). This theory is supported by ancient pollen grains which are very small like those that of modern wind dispersed plants of the today.

However when angiosperms (flowering plants) evolved (they evolved after the gymnosperms) they were pollinated by insects. Wind pollination in angiosperms evolved later in angiosperms.

Wind pollination wastes a large amount of pollen and the plants need to be growing relatively close to each-other.
