Can babies have allergies to pollen/dust etc?

My 11 month old has really red, watery eyes. It's not pink eye. It's actually just like my husband's red, watery eyes right now due to pollen allergy. Do you treat babies with Benedryl for allergies? (I have called the Dr. just waiting for their call back and curious what ya'll think)

Can babies have allergies to pollen/dust etc?
You betcha! My kids are both on allergy meds...my 4 year old takes Clarinex and my 9 month old is on Zyrtec. It has helped them both tremendously! Definitely ask the dr about it...ours gave us samples to try before she prescribed them so we could see if it was going to help.
Reply:Yes, absolutely. And yes, although the Benadryl is best to wait on teh call back from the doctor. Babies who are going to be allergic to environmental things often do not show any symptoms their first "season" but if yours is then they will probably only be worse next year!! poor little thing!
Reply:I agree with the rest of the bunch babies can be allergic to pollen/dust etc. Wait for the doctor's call and the best is probably if he sees the baby personally! Good luck!
Reply:Yes babies can have the same allergies as adults. I am unsure on the way to treat it but you said you called your doc so he should be able to tell you what to do. I don't think it will be benadryl though.
Reply:yes its possible a baby bieng allerigic to dust
Reply:yes its possible for babies to have allergies at young age. im sure you will be able to give you baby something for allergies why dont you go to a drug store and ask for baby allergy medication im sure they'll have something to give your baby
Reply:SURE THEY CAN, THE DR. WILL KNOW WHAT IS BEST TO TREAT THIS.
Reply:yes they can
Reply:They certainly can and in your case, it's probably genetic from your husband's family. A lot of allergies are passed down and keep an eye out for asthma and bronchitis later on, especially if those two are in the family line. Benedryl is often prescribed by a doctor in proper dosage for infants, toddlers, but don't do it yourself just because you have some on hand.
Reply:Yes they can. My suggestion would be to go to a Ear Nose and Throat doctor. I would also get an allergy test done.
Reply:Yes they can, I would wait for your doc's input.
Reply:absolutely they could have allergies...just make sure you wait on your dr. before giving your baby something like that. good luck!
