My very beautiful but very mishevious two year old daughter has managed to drop pollen from my Lilys onto my carpet. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can remove it?
It is a new carpet and it is slightly rubbed in...any help will be gratefully received.

Lily pollen on carpet- please help!?
Oooohhhhh. Lily pollen is dreadful to remove.
Start by using sellotape or a lint roller and dabbing it on. This will catch any loose pollen that hasn't been rubbed in. Then get a good carpet foam cleaner like 1001. Just use the foam because if it's too wet and you rub it you will spread the stain. The foam crystalises and when it's dry you can hoover it.
Hope it works for you. Good Luck. x
Reply:try selotape sticky side down DONT rub/ try at least several times before anything els good luck the little tinker eric john
Reply:Rub the area with styrofoam from packaging - the styrofoam makes the pollen leap to it, as it's electrically charged.
Reply:USUALLY THIS CLEANER CALLED RESOVE WORKS. IF ITS A TOUGH STAIN YOULL HAVE TO LET IT SET A MINUTE. BUT, I HAVE FOUND IT TO BE VERY EFFECTIVE.
Reply:I once had Lily Pollen on the carpet; very enjoyable!
Reply:Lily pollen is a pain to get rid of!
Use sellotape, make sure it doesn't get rubbed in.
Then use a quality carpet cleaner
Sorry not much help but....
To stop this happening again cut the stamens off. it doesn't make the flowers look any less beautiful but solves the problem ever happening again

Has anybody used Bioallers or Boiron's Homeopathic medicine for Pollen Allergy? Did it work for you?
Though I have not used the Medicine, but being a Homeopathic Practitioner I can safely say that it should work, because I have never know Homeopathic Medicines too fail or not make an effect. And Boiron is a World Renowned Firm. I have found their remedies totally effective in all cases. In my experience single remedies work better, the ones which are prescribed according to the patients symptoms rather then combination remedies. You can post your symptoms here or consult a Homeopathic Physician for an appropriate prescription for best results.
Hope this helps.

What would prevent the pollen from one plant species from pollinating flowers of another species?
?????
What would prevent the pollen from one plant species from pollinating flowers of another species?
Just as in humans, plants have their own form of DNA, the building blocks of life. Species with incompatible DNA cannot reproduce with each other. This is why dogs cannot mate with cats, etc. However there are some instances where cross-pollination IS possible. This is how some botanists can create hybrid plant species.
Reply:The same thing that prevents sperms and eggs from different animal species from combining. Although hybrids do form more commonly in the plant world (species aren't as discrete as in animals), most plants are not capable of combining.
Reply:idk
Reply:Nothing. It happens more than you think. Think of flower hybrids. You can find them if you look.
Reply:There are cases of cross pollination between two species of plants, thats when you see the weird looking fruit, so it isn't entirely impossible. But I suppose things like plant structure matter, or maybe the pollen just isn't able to fertilize the ovule of the plant....sort of why most animal species cannot create progeny

Name the stage of plant that is enclosed within pollen?
It is the Gametophyte stage.
In land plants the gametophyte is very small (as in ferns and their relatives) or even reduced as in flowering plants (angiosperms).
where the female gametophyte (ovule) is known as a megagametophyte and the
male gametophyte (pollen) is called a microgametophyte.
It is haploid and has haploid cells / nuclei in side .
It is Haploid because pollen grains ( Micro-spores ) are produced through the reduction division ( Meiosis ) of Diploid Pollen Mother Cells or Micro-spore mother cells .

microgametogenesis pollination.

Should i run track with my bad allergies to pollen and dusts?
im wondering because mine are severe and its during the springtime
Should i run track with my bad allergies to pollen and dusts?
yeah, you should, i have bad allergies the same time and i still run track.
Reply:Take Nasonex. It is the best nasal spray in the world and when you take it you can't feel any allergies anymore, indoors or out. Ask your doctor and they can prescribe it for you, I've never found any medicine to work better.

When the yellow pollen is going to end?
I live in Atlanta and I'm sick of this yellow mess. I want to powerwash the windows and the deck of my house... It looks terrible. Does anyone know when starts to get better?
Thanks!
When the yellow pollen is going to end?
Few plants put out pollen for much more than 2 weeks. When a species is widespread so that some are growing at much higher or more northerly locations, it can be a month.
Now I never encountered a lot of pollen in Alberta. Do you live in a forest area? or perhaps somewhere that grows canola or mustard?
Reply:You have some rain comming your way. That will help. But you must wait until the Pine and Oak Trees have budded out. They are the cause of the Yellow Pollen.
We are experiencing the very same dilemna here in N.W. Arkansas and have about another week to 10 days to go.
Reply:It will disappear after the first frost.

Is your car covered with pollen?
Mine is. In fact, if I leave the window to my house open for five minutes, my entire desk is covered with yellow dust. It makes me sneeze, too. I do not even have allergies. I can even see it building up on the driveway, I'm afraid to eat outside for fear of pollen poisoning. Please, let me know that I'm not alone. I'm almost going crazy. HELP!
BTW, I live in northeast Alabama.
Is your car covered with pollen?
Yes, I think it's pretty much all over the country. I'm in TX and mine was completely covered. I don't have bad allergies, thank goodness. It's really irritating, yes. But it's just part of Spring.
It'll be over soon.
And then we'll be complaining about the heat of the summer ...
Reply:Sorry folks! We poor saps up here north of the Carolinas are still freezing! BRRRRRRR! Report It
Reply:people sell pollen as a protein and a food suppliment, most are good for you, except rag weed or golden rod
Reply:Hahaha, yes. I was just walking home from class (live in an apt. on UTK campus) and I passed a line of cars and they were all covered in pollen. You couldn't even tell what color the cars were! I'd say they probably hadn't been there that long either. It's crazy how much is out there floating around.
Reply:Yes, mine is covered. I don't even want to was my car anymore. I live in southeast Alabama, so no you are not alone.
Reply:I live in northern VA...not yet, but it is coming...everything just started to bloom and I feel the allergies coming on...Last year my car was coated in the stuff...thick yellow mess!
Reply:I live in north Texas and my red car looks orange it has so much pollen on it. Our walnut tree also weeps a sticky sap so the pollen stick like it is glued on. I don't know about pollen poisoning, but it could cause you to have allergies due to over exposure.
Reply:I live in FL, and I don't have a car, but my mom's and my aunt's are both covered in a thick dust. It's gross. The difference is, I'm allergic :(
Reply:i live in KY now and theres a bit, but i used to live right outside atlanta and there would be up to an eight of an inch on our cars it was crazy
Reply:Probably, not the best answer... I'm just shocked at the question, are you serious? I live in Alaska, sooooo it is deffinetly not a problem here. My suggestion would just be dust with something that keeps it on the rag, rather than just lifting it into the air again. Good luck!
Reply:Dude, Cut the tree down put some other type of tree instead.
Use palm trees.
Reply:You aren't the only one. I'm near Atlanta, and the pollen lately has been insane. There's no point in washing cars because they will get covered by the next day. My advice: get yellow car.
