What does the weather man mean by "The pollen count"?
Simply put, its the allergens in the air.

*Im not a meterologist* but I believe they take samples of the air and see how much pollen is in the sample to determine the avereage amount of pollens or allergens in the air. So to answer your question, I guess they are actually counting the pollens in the air samples.
Reply:they use a Tauber trap to catch pollen on a given area and count it!
